The Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme forms part of the Construction Skills (CITB) Site Safety Plus range of courses which are highly regarded in the construction industry and recognised as being the highest standard of qualification for SSSTS Training.
Training is targeted at site supervisors with a view to arming them with the most recent up to date regulations and information needed to manage effectively with their health and safety responsibilities with the safest working practices and method. Training is accomplished over two days.
This two day course provides supervisors with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, as well as their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. The necessity of promoting and encouraging health and safety at work in order to supervise effectively will be highlighted. SSSTS training is suited to individuals who are presently employed as a supervisor or will be taking on supervisory responsibilities within their role.
The training explores a broad variety of health and safety aspects relating specifically to the site mangers role including: Performance Measurement, Permit Systems, Fire Prevention & Control, Occupational Health (Noise, Vibration, Asbestos etc), Hazardous Substances (COSHH) and Presentation of Toolbox Talks
Course candidates are assessed throughout the 2 day course through interactive sessions and will also take a multiple choice, written examination in order to qualify for the SSSTS accreditation. Certification is valid for 5 years, however there are likely to be continued changes in legislation, environmental management and technology so it is recommended that refresher courses are sat within 3 years of completing the original course.
This course should not be confused with the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course which is a 5 day training course aimed at site managers.
